VENEERS

Cosmetic Dentistry : FAQ

VENEERS

Veneers are very thin shells that can be bonded to the front surface of one or more teeth to improve the aesthetics of these teeth. They can improve the shape and shade of the teeth thus magically transforming an imperfect smile into a beautiful one!

Types of Veneers

Veneers can be made of composite resin or high-quality ceramic. Composite resin veneers are shaped by the dentist directly in the patient's mouth and take a single appointment. Ceramic veneers are fabricated in the laboratory by highly skilled and artistic technicians. For this purpose, we have few of the leading laboratories in India affiliated with our clinic.

Minimum tooth preparation or sometimes no preparation is required for a veneer. We offer the very lifelike E- max veneers by Ivoclar and composite veneers to our patients.

Veneers can solve many issues such as :

  • Improve the shade and shape of teeth

  • Close gaps between teeth

  • Fix chipped teeth

  • Permanently fix discolored teeth

Benefits of Veneers:

  • They look and feel like natural teeth

  • Are long lasting

  • Are Durable

While veneers enhance your smile considerably and are durable they do not last forever and may need to be replaced at some point.

How to take care of your Veneers:

  • Brush your teeth atleast twice daily with a fine flouride toothpaste (non abrasive) and a soft bristled tooth brush. Floss carefully everyday.

  • Veneers are durable and strong once bonded but they may crack under unusual pressure or when subjected to force at an ususal angle. So you need to care for your veneers well and not use your teeth as tools. (Avoid biting on pens, ice , bones, nails, opening bobby pins and food wrappers with teeth).

  • Avoid biting into very hard food items with the veneered teeth.

  • Avoid or limit intake of food that may cause staining of natural teeth (tea, coffee, red wine, dark soy sauce and sodas) as it may lead to a colour mismatch over time. Brush your teeth or rinse well after consuming coloured food stuff to avoid staining of natural teeth aswell as veneers.

  • Avoid cigarette smoking and tobacco products. The Nicotine in these can stain your veneers as well as your natural teeth appart from being bad for your general health.

  • For people who may be grinding their teeth at night or have a strong bite we like to give them soft flexible night gaurds to protect their veneers as well as their natural teeth from chipping.

  • Visit your dentist very 6 months for a check up and scaling (cleaning) of teeth in order to keep your oral hygiene in top condition.
