PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY (KIDS DENTISTRY)

We believe that good oral hygiene habits developed during childhood pave the way for healthy teeth and gums throughout life. We recommend routine dental check-up for kids, generally every six months, so that any dental problem can be attended to at the right time.

We recommend simple preventive treatments to keep children's teeth healthy and cavity-free. Our Specialist Pediatric Dentist is very patient and makes sure that your child's dental experience is always enjoyable!

SCALING OF TEETH

Scaling of teeth (cleaning) removes plaque, calculus, and stains from the teeth thus improving the kid's overall oral hygiene and prevents cavities. This is a great way to get the kids comfortable on the dental chair as they thoroughly enjoy this procedure.

It's also a good time to check for any cavities which may need care. Our Pediatric Dentist will be happy to share oral hygiene care tips with your little ones and also discuss the benefits of a healthy balanced diet at this appointment.

PIT AND FISSURE SEALANTS

Pit and Fissure Sealants are resins that are applied to the chewing surfaces of the back teeth (molars and premolars). It is a preventive treatment done especially for children and is very beneficial in preventing tooth decay in newly erupted permanent teeth as well as in milk teeth.

Chewing surfaces of teeth are most vulnerable to decay as they have deep grooves, food sticks to them and they are hard to clean. The sealants effectively seal these natural grooves, pits, and fissures, making them smooth and easy to clean. They also release fluoride thus providing an anti-cavity benefit to the teeth. This procedure is very comfortable for the kids and takes only a few minutes.

FILLINGS

In case a child's tooth has decay (cavity), it can be easily filled using tooth-colored filling materials. With the use of the latest filling materials and gentle techniques, we make this process a fun experience for the kids. We use the best fluoride-releasing glass ionomer fillings as well as tooth-colored composite fillings.

In a tooth, with deep decay or infection, a Root Canal Treatment may be necessary, followed by a crown. Sometimes a tooth is damaged beyond repair, and an extraction may be advised. This is done under local anesthesia and our Pediatric Dentist makes it a very gentle experience.

TOPICAL FLUORIDE APPLICATION

When we think of the simplest preventive treatment for kids' teeth, this is definitely one of them! Professionally applied fluoride varnishes and gels strengthen and remineralize tooth enamel thus preventing cavities. This procedure is quick, simple, and comfortable for the kids and takes only a few seconds.

Fluoride varnishes can be applied to all the teeth as a preventive therapy or to only a few targeted teeth to prevent demineralisation. Further, a take-home fluoride mousse may be recommended for home use for kids who need additional care.

SPACE MAINTAINERS

In case a baby tooth is lost early due to trauma or extracted prematurely because of decay or infection, then a space maintainer is given to preserve that space until the permanent tooth erupts in its place.

This space maintainer also guides the permanent tooth to erupt into its right place. A simple and effective treatment, our Pediatric Dentist will be happy to guide you through it.
